Prominent veins such as spider veins or varicose veins can be caused by a variety of issues. Hormones, genetics, and activity can all play a role in your chances of getting prominent veins. No matter the cause, sclerotherapy is an option to treat the appearance of spider and varicose veins. If you wish to reduce their appearance, Rinnova Skin and Body can help.
What is sclerotherapy?
At Rinnova Skin & Body, sclerotherapy is our preferred method for dealing with spider and small varicose veins. Asclera is a polidocanol solution that will cause your veins to create new tissue in place of the blood vessel. Dr. Becker will inject your veins with Asclera and see you at a follow up visit. The full effect of the treatment can take several weeks, as your body absorbs the old tissue from the vein.
What to expect after sclerotherapy?
After your treatment you will need to wear medical grade (20-30 mmHg) compression stockings for seven days following, including during sleep. We have stockings available for purchase on site, however you can purchase them before your appointment. Dr. Becker recommends avoiding activities that put major pressure on the site, including weightlifting for the first week after treatment. However, moderate exercise like jogging, skiing, or yoga are fine as long as you continue to wear the compression hose for the full seven days.
