Sculptra Treatment Q & A

What is the difference between Sculptra and other dermal fillers?

Unlike hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers, Sculptra is an injectable poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) based treatment. Instead of filling underneath the skin with HA to increase volume or decrease lines, Sculptra works deep within the skin to help your cells produce collagen, restoring volume and improving skin texture.

Who is a good candidate for Sculptra?

Anyone who is noticing signs of skin laxity or loss of volume is a candidate for Sculptra. Hollowness and sagging are common signs of aging skin that can be greatly improved with Sculptra. Men and women of all ages can receive this treatment.

What can I expect during and after the treatment?

Sculptra is typically scheduled in a series of three about one month apart. This allows for repeated collagen stimulation that will continue for months beyond the final treatment. These results last for years and subsequent touch ups can prolong the effect. Side effects such as swelling or bruising are generally mild and resolve within a few days.

How long does it take to see results after Sculptra?

Sculptra works subtly and gradually to help restore a more youthful-looking appearance. Most people see results of their Sculptra treatment after the second injection, at around 6-8 weeks. These results last over two years with greater than 80% patient satisfaction at that time.
