Labiaplasty

What is Labiaplasty?

Labiaplasty, or labia minora reduction is a surgical procedure that reduces or reshapes the labia minora. The appearance of labia minora can vary from woman to woman. Many women can have larger labia minora prior to adolescence or can develop changes after childbirth related to hormones.

Who is a Candidate for Labiaplasty?

Some women chose to have this surgery for cosmetic reasons, while others may suffer from discomfort and irritation related to clothing, activity, or even intercourse. Asymmetry is another common complaint among women seeking this surgery. Labiaplasty may help resolve these symptoms and relieve any embarrassment or self-conscious feelings associated with it.

What Does the Procedure Involve?

The surgery typically takes about 45-90 minutes depending on the patient or if additional procedures are performed. It is done in the office using local anesthesia and mild sedation. You will need a ride home.

What is the Recovery Like?

Post-op care requires cleansing the area several times a day. You may require stronger medication for the first day or two, but Ibuprofen (Motrin) is usually sufficient for the next week. We also provide a numbing spray and antibiotic ointment to help decrease pain and healing time during the recovery period. You may resume intercourse after 4-6 weeks to allow the area to heal completely.
