What can I anticipate during a Contour TRL treatment?
You will receive topical and local anesthesia for this treatment. You may also opt for an oral pain medication which would require a driver. After your skin is cleansed, you will wear protective eye shields. The treatment time can last 60 to 90 minutes depending on the areas treated.
What should I be prepared for after a Contour TRL treatment?
It is important to follow instructions during this time, as your skin will be sensitive and require extra care. Keeping your skin clean and moist are two elements in the healing process. It is especially critical to avoid sun exposure until fully healed.
You will experience redness and a sensation similar to a sunburn immediately following treatment. Swelling will likely also occur in the first few days after treatment. Dr. Becker will guide you on post-care recommendations, which mainly include ointments to maintain skin moisture.
What kind of downtime and results should I expect after a Contour TRL treatment?
Typical downtime can last 2 to 4 weeks, and you may want to stay indoors or avoid work for the first week or two. Depending on your treatment, sunscreen and cosmetics can be applied once skin is starting to heal one to two weeks post-treatment. At this point, you will see noticeable improvements in your skin’s texture, tone, and wrinkle appearance. These deeper laser treatments promote new collagen growth over 4-6 months. During this time, you may notice improvements in skin tightness and resilience.
Residual redness will fade over the next several weeks. This redness is a sign of the treatment working and occurs due to red blood vessels delivering a new layer of collagen and elastin. It indicates overall healing.
